Day
1: Colonia - Montevideo
Arrival and reception at Colonia's Port. City tour visiting Colonia's
most important attractions. Colonia is an old city which has been declared
World Heritage by the UNESCO. We will visit the little stone streets,
old edifications, forts, Spanish and Portuguese Museums, the port, downtown,
the Ferrando Beach, the wonderful Coastal Rambla which borders Colonia
from the Old City to the "Real de San Carlos" where we will
visit the bullring, the horses' race course and the old port. Transfer
to the bus station in order to take a bus to Montevideo. Arrival and
reception at "Tres Cruces'" bus station. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Montevideo
Breakfast at the hotel. City Tour visiting Montevideo's most important
attractions: the Independence Square, the Legislative Palace, the traditional
Prado neighborhood, the residential zone of Carrasco, the Old City and
pedestrian streets, the town hall, the cathedral and the typical Mercado
del Puerto, where we will have lunch. (Lunch not included).
Day
3: Punta del Este & Cabo Polonio
Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Punta Del Este, where we will visit
Casapueblo, a strange construction designed by the famous Uruguayan
artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, where we will visit his atelier.
Once in Punta del Este, we will visit the Mansa and Brava Beaches as
well as the residential neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, San Rafael and
Cantegril Golf. We will cross the strange undulated bridge of "La
Barra and then continue our journey towards the Province of Rocha. When
we arrive to Cabo Polonio's entrance we will cross the sand dunes in
4x4 vehicles (or horseback) until we reach the coast of this cozy fishing
town. We will have lunch at "La Perla" (The Pearl), a little
local Posada with a view to the sea. We will then visit one of the world's
biggest Sea Lions Reserve. After lunch, we will continue our trip to
the typical Estancia "Guardia Del Monte", located at the shores
of the Castillos Lagoon. Dinner and lodging are included in this Estancia.
Day 4: Estancia Guardia del Monte
Breakfast at the estancia. Visit to the Ombues' Forest, one of the few
that still exist. Full Day dedicated to enjoy the estancia and its surroundings.
You will be able to practice several activities like: horse-riding,
fishing, bird-watching, and swimming at the Castillos Lagoon. Lunch,
dinner and lodging are included at this estancia.
Day
5: Playa "La Pedrera"
Breakfast at the estancia and transfer to La Pedrera. Day at leisure
to make optional excursions. We suggest the visit to Rocha Palm Groves,
where we will visit the palm trees and the Black Lagoon. We will have
lunch near the lagoon. In the afternoon we will visit the Ficus Forest
and the Hill, where we will appreciate the spectacular view of the countryside.
We will then return to La Pedrera.
Day 6: Playa "La Pedrera"
Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure to enjoy the beach.
Day 7: Montevideo
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the bus station in order to take
a bus to Montevideo. Arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel.
Day 8: Montevideo
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Carrasco
International Airport, to Tres Cruces Bus Station or to Montevideo Port.
2010 price per person in US$ (based
on minimum of 2 people traveling together): $1428 single, $1068double,
$1050 triple
(NH Columbia 4* in Montevideo, Estancia Guardia del Monte, Hotel La
