Amazonas-Los Roques

Day 1 (Thursday) Arrival in Caracas. Transfer to Hotel. Double room/bath. (-/-/-)
You will be welcomed at the airport. The airport is situated at the coast, 23 km away from the city. The drive to Caracas on the highway takes about one hour. You will be brought to the Hilton.

Day 2 Early Flight to Pto. Ayacucho. Visit of the Museo Transfer to the Orinoquia Lodge. Lunch and in the afternoon ecological jungle walk. Double room/bath. (/L/D)
In the morning flight from Caracas to Pto. Ayacucho. We pick you up at the airport. First you visit the indian market, where you can buy beautiful handicrafts and then the indian museum, where you learn about the different indian tribes and their ways of life. Afterwards drive to the Orinoquia Lodge, which is situated at the banks of the Orinoco River, about 20 minutes from Puerto Ayacucho. It is designed in the typical native style. After lunch, you will visit an indian village, where you learn about Indian agriculture and various local plants. You walk through the jungle where you can see the famous "24 hours ant". You will be shown how the Indians make baskets, hammocks and traps. You also learn about medicine plants.

Day 3 Full Day Boat trip on the Orinoco River. Double room/bath. (B/L/D)
Today you take a boat trip downriver on the Orinoco. We explore little streams with abundant vegetation. With a little luck you might see fresh water dolphins and otters. There is time to swim and sunbathe on the beautiful beaches, which appear during dry season.

Day 4 Walk to a vantage point. Flight via Caracas to Los Roques. (B/-/D)
After breakfast you have the opportunity to walk to a vantage point where we have a splendid view over the Orinocio River. Afterwards transfer to the airport and flight to Caracas and from there to Los Roques. After about 40 minutes you will see an elliptic archipelago enclosing a lagoon surrounded by white sand beaches lapped by turquoise water, mangroves and magnificent coral reefs teeming with marine life. Such an alluring vision welcomes you to Los Roques National Park. Once commercial airlines started providing regular flights to Los Roques, tourism became an additional source of income and many fishermen houses were turned into Posadas or small guest houses. In order to preserve and protect the National Park, the Posadas can have a maximum number of 10 rooms and only one floor. In the village, consisting only of a few sandy roads, there are no cars. The archipelago is blessed with an average temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius (82ºF.) all year-round.

Day 5 - 7 Los Roques including excursions to the nearby islands. Double room/bath. (B/L/D)
You will stay in a very nice Guesthouse called La Cigala.. The recent construction is decorated in Caribbean style and offers double rooms with ceiling fan and private bath. You can enjoy these days, taking boat excursions to the nearby islands, walking along white sandy beaches, or go snorkeling and discover the incredible marine world.

Day 8 (Thursday) Flight back to Caracas. (B/-/-)
After breakfast you will take the flight back to Caracas. End of services.
